GoFrogs: TCU Falls to UCF In Quarterfinals, 3-2

AUSTIN, Texas - TCU fell to UCF, 3-2 on Monday night at Mike A. Myers Stadium in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championship. Gracie Brian and Maddie Mooney both scored in the contest.

The Rundown
TCU opened the scoring in the sixth minute. Seven Castain delivered a beautiful through ball to a crashing Gracie Brian. With one touch, Brian found the ball in the back of the net to give TCU a early 1-0 lead, one it would carry into halftime.

In the second half, UCF answered with an early goal of its own in the 52nd minute. Mia Asenjo tied the game on a goal from just inside the box. The Knights took the lead in the 66th on a Dayana Martin goal.

The Frogs battled back to even the score in the 73rd minute as Maddie Mooney was in the right place at the right time. Bella Diorio keyed the scoring play as she crossed the ball into the penalty area. Brian found Mooney who snuck behind UCF's defenders. With just the goalkeeper to beat, Mooney did just that and with one touch of the ball tallied the equalizer.

The see-saw battle continued as UCF took the lead for good on Chloe Netzel's goal in the 82nd minute. The Knights survived the potential game-tying goal in the 83rd minute as the Frogs were whistled for offside.
