PHILADELPHIA - The men's 4x100 claimed fourth-place honors on Saturday as TCU closed the 116th running of the Penn Relays in front of an electric and record crowd of 54,310.

In a field that featured four of the nation's top 10, the quartet of Skye Dawson, Charles Silmon, Mychal Dungey and Clemore Henry clocked a time of 40.09 seconds to finish fourth overall in the Championship of America final.

The Horned Frogs exploded out of the blocks to take the lead through the first two legs, but fell behind slightly on the second exchange, crossing the finish line in fourth-place at Franklin Field on Saturday. The quartet's fourth-place finish is the highest-finish in a Championship of American final by a men's 4x100 since 2006.

"I thought we had a productive day," said head coach Darryl Anderson. "To get fourth-place in the Championship of America 4x100 is good. I thought both freshmen Skye Dawson and Charles Silmon lit it up today. They ran their two legs and were clearly in the lead. We just have to clean some things up with our execution. Up until this weekend, we have had really good handoffs, but we weren't clean all weekend. A lot of that was probably due to the fact that I'm sure it was difficult for the guys to think in front of 54,000 strong. This 4x100 group can really do some dynamic and special things for us as we move forward. They just have to learn how to function in this type of environment. I think the sky is the limit for them."

TCU closed the relays earning runner-up accolades in the college finals of the men's 4x400. Henry, Dungey, Jordan Pitts and Dell Guy placed second overall with a seasonal-best time of 3:09.30, which currently sits No. 1 in the Mountain West Conference.

"We were second in the men's 4x400 college final, which is good. We just have to continue to keep working at it and keep pecking away," said Anderson.

Other highlights on the day included, former Frog great and 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Frater helping Jamaica Black post a time of 38.72 seconds to finish in fourth-place in the USA vs. the World men's 4x100. Jamaica Gold, who was anchored by Usain Bolt, placed first overall with a new Penn Relays record time of 37.90 seconds. Frater and Bolt currently hold the world record in the event, which they set at the 2009 World Championship in Berlin.

The Frogs also competed at the Sooner Invitational on Saturday in Norman, Okla.

Larissa Matthews had a strong showing in the women's 100-meter hurdles, recording a time of 13.89 second to place fourth out of 20 competitors at John Jacobs Field.

In the women's shot put, Stormy Harrison and Kelsey Samuels placed sixth and seventh overall, respectively. Harrison tossed the shot 49 feet, 8 1/4 inches, while Samuels threw 48 feet, 4 inches.

OJ Stoneham led TCU in the men's 200 meters, recording a personal-best time of 21.37 seconds to earn fifth-place accolades on Saturday afternoon. Stoneham's seasonal-best time is currently No. 3 in the Mountain West Conference.

Finally, senior Tommy Killen tossed the discus 170 feet on Saturday to place ninth overall.

TCU will open the month of May at the Texas Invitational in Austin. Competition is slated to begin on Saturday, May 1.
