TCU Climbs to No. 9 in Golfweek Rankings

Four Frogs currently among nation's top-90 golfers

GOLFWEEK/SAGARIN RANKINGS

FORT WORTH--TCU has joined the top 10 in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin national rankings on the strength of its strong start to the spring season, climbing to No. 9 this week. Four Horned Frogs golfers are listed among the nation's top-90 individuals.

TCU began the spring season at No. 43 according to Golfweek but has shot up in the rankings after earning top-3 finishes in three of its four tournaments. The Frogs' top effort thus far came last weekend at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, where they posted a 25-shot victory over the field at The Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif.

Strong individual play has been a hallmark of TCU's fast start, as freshman Julien Brun (No. 5) and seniors Pontus Gad (No. 69), Daniel Jennevret (No. 84) and Eli Cole (No. 89) each rank among Golfweek's top-90 college golfers. Brun has three top-10 finishes in four spring events, including his fifth career victory last weekend in Palm Desert. Cole (second), Jennevret (tied for fifth), Gad (tie for eighth) and freshman Paul Barjon (tie for eighth) each joined him in the leaderboard's top-10 last weekend.

In other news, Brun keeps receiving national attention for his outstanding play, this time being named to the watch list for the Fred Haskins Award presented annually to the top collegiate golfer. He already was named to another national award watch list earlier this season for The Ben Hogan Award. Brun also has climbed up to the No. 4 position in the R&A World Amateur Rankings.

TCU returns to competition March 9 when it begins another week on the west coast with a dual match against Pepperdine at Rancho Park Golf Club in Los Angeles. The squad then travels south for the San Diego Classic held March 11-12 at San Diego Country Club.
