TCU student wins $100,000 tuition contest during halftime of Big 12 Championship Game

    By Stefan Stevenson

TCU student Jazlyn Rodriguez Hernandez won a halftime contest at the Big 12 Championship — and got booed.

Hernandez, 19, won $100,000 in the Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway contest, and during the check presentation she thanked TCU. Oklahoma Sooners and Baylor Bears fans in the house took exception. And if we’re being honest, it was probably more Bears booing than Sooners.

“I feel so blessed,” she said holding the $100,000 check. “I want to thank my mom, my family, everyone at TCU … and everyone that I love and know!”

Sadly, that’ll only cover two years of tuition.

  4. As usual, someone on kfc just has to find a negative in what is a really good thing.

  5. I blame Sonny Cumbie.

  6. Ironically, a Baylor girl from Louisiana won the same contest during the LSU/UGA SEC Championship halftime & got the same treatment from both sides with a whole lot less cheering than Jazlyn.

  7. If she hand thanked Coach Cumbie the Baylor fans would have cheered.

Congrats Jazlyn. Looking forward to seeing you on campus and contributing to future beatdowns of Baylor and Oklahoma in all academics and sports. Remember that losers boo winners and make sarcastic comments.
