BYU is such a joke. They claim to have all these standards, but in reality they are racists and like to start fights all the time. smdh
The story is fake. There were 6,000 people crammed into that tiny gym and not one other person in that 6,000 heard anything. All the microphones, all the cameras, all the phones. No audio, video of any sort. Her teammates didn't even hear it. You can watch right now if you want and see when she serves. Turn it up and listen. She alone is the "witness" to the event. She could not point anyone out during the match to BYU event security and police that was making a slur. Nothing. Police were right next to their bench during the 4th set investigating/listening. Nothing. Her Godma's tweets and some of the stuff she herself has liked on twitter are awful and racist. Yet, this happens and is believed. I feel really bad about the way BYU has been treated in all of this. There may be things to rightful criticize BYU on but this is not it. That hit job in your paper was terrible.

And even if you took the devil's advocate and someone did make a slur at this event.......there are always bad apples in everything.

OK, lemme make sure I’ve got this right:
1. It didn’t happen, because there were a bunch of people who didn’t report it.
2. If it DID happen, well [ Finebaum ] happens, waddayagonnado.
3. If you believe it did happen and say it shouldn’t (like all BYU’s top brass), you are horrible.

Off, is the general direction in which you can scheiss.

1. They investigated it. By both her teammates and the student section. There were police officers RIGHT THERE. There were no slurs being thrown around. There are ZERO corroborating witnesses. If this was happening in that tiny, compact gym that's an impossibility. Especially with police and security right there listening/investigating.

2. Are you saying that if it did happen(it didn't) that there was more than 1 person? You are getting even more unbelievable.

3. BYU was trying to PR the thing out. If they go after the credibility of the witness and say she misheard or lied they only get it worse from clowns like the guy cited in this story. I feel bad for them.

Look, I know far more on this than you ever will because of people I have talked to that were actually THERE in the student section and the AD. It never happened. It's impossible. I would have thought that in the chaos maybe the girl misheard something but when she likes tweets of white kids being beat up and her grandma hates asians and whites and has now locked her twitter feed then I doubt it. I believe it was a lie.

Wow. Interesting to see you go on this journey from “know[ing]” and “impossible” to simple “doubt” and “[dis]belie[f]” in just a single run on sentence!

Yes, I "know" that it was "impossible" to have occurred. The "doubt" part comes on whether she misheard it or made it up. No contradiction there. I would try to give someone the benefit of the doubt but if you look at what the godma has done on twitter and some of the stuff this girl has liked I "believe" it was a straight up lie.

I have sources that were there in the student section and in the athletic department. Also the police investigation. What's your source?

Honestly could not care much less. Just hysterical to watch you have a meltdown here where no one cares.

@BYU fan -- BYU has reportedly permanently banned the fan in question. Yes? No?
Yes. But that was not for hurling racist slurs. A fan after the match went down near the Duke players, made them uncomfortable, and this one player claimed he was the one making racist slurs based off "recognizing his voice". That is what I heard. The guy got banned. If you read the BYU statement closely you will notice the banned person was never accused of making slurs. He was banned for "problematic behavior". That jives with what I heard. It also jives with the comments made by the accuser today who said someone came down close and was "taking pictures" with his phone that made them uncomfortable.

Look, you can argue with me all you want. I know what the people in the know have said. I'm just telling it like it is.

I seem to remember Memphis starting a brawl in ACS...
This is correct. If you watch the video you will notice a couple Memphis players teaming up and swinging their helmets at the head of BYU offensive linemen Tejan Koroma. That dirty play is what sparked the brawl.

@BYU fan - not arguing. Just wondering if media reports were correct. I do find it hard to believe that if someone yelled racial slurs, someone didn’t tell the guy to zip it real quick.
Exactly. It was only a few years ago that they would come over the PA at football games and tell the fans to stop booing officials who made a questionable call. There is zero tolerance for anyone getting out of line. And there are plenty of rats around more than willing to squeal.
