Thomas Houk

THOMAS HOUK, '82

It is with a heavy heart that the TCU Block T Association announces the passing of former TCU Baseball letterwinner, Thomas Houk, ’82. Tom was 64 years old.

Tom was born in Peoria, Ill., but made his way to Fort Worth in 1978 to play baseball for the Horned Frogs and major in Chemistry while at TCU. He received his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 1982 and then went on to receive an MBA from SMU in 1983. Tom worked primarily in the banking business throughout his career, before serving as Vice President of Operations for GiveMeTheVin.com.

Tom Houk was a Lifetime Member of the Block T Association, an enthusiastic fan of TCU, and the beginning of the ‘origin story’ of the Hypnotoad. You can watch the video HERE explaining the origin, Tom Houk is ‘Fred Garvin’ on KillerFrogs.com.

Tom is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gaye Houk, and sons Matthew and Andrew Houk. Margaret Houk, daughter in law; Geraldine and Donald Houk, parents; Benjamin Leonard, father in law; Steve and Rhonda Houk, brother and sister in law; Ty and Kim Houk , and Bryan and Lindsay Houk, nephews and nieces; Noah and Luke, near and dear grand-nephews.
