Hit the portal hard on O-line, D-line and L-backers. Get a solid QB transfer.Upgrade the lines - it will work
Everybody is hitting portal for OL - we did that last year and this year was the result I’m afraid…Hit the portal hard on O-line, D-line and L-backers. Get a solid QB transfer.
Resume normal recruiting and we will lead the Big 12 nxt yr.
If you say so chief…nobody thinks Hoover is a top 15 qb in the nation or top 5 QB in the conference with OU / UTJust saw that Josh moved up the espn total qb rankings from 17 to 16th in the nation.
Phenomenal given our OL is a work in progress this year.
No, they don’t, you’re right. If you say so chief…nobody thinks Hoover is a top 15 qb in the nation or top 5 QB in the conference with OU / UT
At least in college he turned out alright. No, they don’t, you’re right.
He was a redshirt freshman. Duggan wasn’t a top 60 QB when he was a sophomore. Ended up the Heisman runner up. Boykin probably wasn’t a top 75 QB when he was a redshirt freshman, wasn’t even close to what Hoover was this year. And he turned out alright.
Actually I doIf you say so chief…nobody thinks Hoover is a top 15 qb in the nation or top 5 QB in the conference with OU / UT

the boykin turnaround was the biggest surprise for me ever - prior to 2014 he was a disaster - when he left he was the best qb to ever wear the jersey at tcu. no chance i'd rather have anyone else under center than boykin - yes, i know who the others are, but boykin was that much better. No, they don’t, you’re right.

Boykin, like Duggan, had shown flashes as an underclassman. He tore up Baylor in Waco as a redshirt freshman in 2012 (after halftime at least). That was glorious.the boykin turnaround was the biggest surprise for me ever - prior to 2014 he was a disaster - when he left he was the best qb to ever wear the jersey at tcu. no chance i'd rather have anyone else under center than boykin - yes, i know who the others are, but boykin was that much better.
Lack of practice reps because there are only 3 DL to block.Everybody is hitting portal for OL - we did that last year and this year was the result I’m afraid…
We are not high in the OL pecking order for whatever reason
I don't know that a 3-3-5 cant work but you have to have the right athletes and be willing to mix it up to get some pressure now and again. We just seemed lacking on both of those all year long. If Gillespie went to a different scheme with the same players would it have made a difference? Many on here believe that is the case, including me.By my quick research, OU, UT, KU and BYU are the only current Big XII teams that DON'T run some form of 335.
Next year, Arizona will join the ranks of conference foes running the 335. KU, BYU, ASU and Utah will be our only conference foes that DON'T run 335.
Now maybe Gillespie stays in his base 335 more than the rest??? Others may bring a backer closer to the LOS more often than we do???
I don't know if there is enough D-line (or LB) talent on this team to have a "good" defense. I don't think there's one guy in that front 6 who is even registering on NFL radars, and that is a huge problem. You gotta have some dudes up there wreaking some havoc. So we're behind the 8-ball until we fix the personnel issues there. I know we had a couple freshman that were highly sought after but I don't think they really saw the field much at all this year....I guess they weren't ready.I don't know that a 3-3-5 cant work but you have to have the right athletes and be willing to mix it up to get some pressure now and again.
