Debbie downer. I believe when Avalos establishes his culture for defense, we will be fine. In his defense (no pun intended) he inherited a number of players' mindsets established under the previous DC. In case you don't remember, it was a mindset of bend, then break.

Hope so, at least it’s not a raging dumpster fire like last year but it looked even worse through 6 games. Looked better but it’s still not good. Arizona is horrible and still moved plenty on us.

Outside of Baylor game, I thought the D was "sevicible " the last 6 games. Some improvement was made it seemed, but there are still many glaring holes to be addressed. Hopefully Dykes van portal some immediate help, along with the 2 JUCO D lineman coming in.

Not ready to give up on Avalos yet. Seems like he tried to make some adjustments at times, unless his predecessor Gillespie, who was stubborn with "his system" regardless how bad the results were.
Serviceable yes. Not good Arizona game showed that. Needs to improve a ton next year, hope they do.

A lot of these comments are no duh comments .. yeah, we need to improve... You can tell nothing by firing a coordinator every year because each one has his own system and his own recruits to make that system work. Gotta give them time to implement it. After 2 years, we were regressing under Gillespie and our D talent was not improving... Not to mention, he couldn't adjust.

Just speaking talent -Wise (no scheme) IMO, one of our best defenses ever was 2014.... And not one of our current players could start on that defense... And some would barely make the 2nd string... That's how much of a rebuild we have to do.

Get your NIL $'s out because the one recent guy that could've broken the 2 deep on that 2014 D left for OU before the season started.

definitely never said he should be fired. I said Briles did better. I think both deserve another year
