Fall Camp 2024

Huh? There was almost never a sack in camp last season. Now you’re seeing a sack from DE, DT, LB, and S.
Offensively speaking.

Never had a doubt defense would be better once they hired Avalos.

Also, even though I do think the defense is better, how do we know just yet whether all those sacks are the result of a newly improved defense or another inept offensive line performance? The season will tell but thus far, offensively speaking, I'm not getting my hopes up about its performance.

We are better overall on the line than last year. Chemistry still getting ironed out which takes time but we still have 3 weeks to go until Stanford. Biggest challenge is figuring out who to put at C, as both Deery and Brockermeyer have excelled. The loser of that will start at LG over Strickland. Strickland needs to become more consistent, but shown good things.

Outside of O-line, Hoover has looked crisp and limiting his mistakes. And this might be the deepest at the skill positions we’ve ever been. 3-4 deep at WR (even the freshman have looked impressive) and 6 RB’s that have all looked really good. Coaches and players are excited for Cook to show everyone what he can do.

We shall see. I won’t be convinced by any of it till the season commences and we’ve played a few games.

Oh me either. Just relaying what I’ve seen on the interwebs. I’ve honestly tampered down my expectations again because we still have a lot of questions that need to be answered that we won’t know about until Aug 30 in Palo Alto. A couple of which I’m not optimistic about.

I think Gary’s predictions back in the day were what finally made me give up hoping and whatnot ha.

When he said we looked great in camp, we had horrible seasons and when he said we were awful in camp, we had great seasons. Grrrr.

Yup, ya really can’t tell for sure until the real deal kicks off.
Last year JC/247 predicted 10 wins and we know how that turned out.
To be fair, a big part of that was that Morris looked like a 1st-team all-conference QB in practice. Same as the year before when he was outshining Max in practice. But when game day came, he was a deer in the headlights. The guy just had zero composure unfortunately.

Not really.
At 61 minutes in on this Frogcast JC predicted 10+ regular season wins with a victory over OU, a victory in the CCG, and another berth in the Playoffs.
If you listen to the entire podcast, he was all-in on the entire team. He even thought
400 lb Ramsey-Brooks was gonna be a player.

Wow, Ramsey-Brooks now at TVCC. Could never work off the excess weight to be mobile enough, but definitely could man-handle you if he got his hands on you.
