Why all the yacking about this in media now after they lost. This was not news about Doughboy. Nico Harrison spelled it out for us months ago.

Nico Harrison was going to have to sign Doughboy to a ridiculous SuperMax contract extension this off-season. A one-way player that can’t defend, can’t move laterally, chooses to haul around unnecessary blubber and may have already peaked. Would you want to be responsible for signing Butter Ball Luka to a SuperMax extension that begins in 2026 at $69 million per year (5-years $345 million)?

And yet Doughboy Doncic decides to carry fat and has never seen a dumbbell. Harrison was correct in not paying him and moving on. Anthony Davis can’t stay healthy which I despise so I don’t like him neither (durability is just as important as ability), but he is a great two-way player when healthy and he is signed. Max Christie is young and the trade came with a 2029 first round pick. What is undisciplined butter and beer Luka worth with his one-way deficiency and likelihood to age quickly?

But tell that to Dallas Luka fans that are now Laker Luka fans, sheesh. Harrison is smart and Dallas' late season success last year was due to him adding Lively, Gafford and PJ, but the team was not a championship team - weren't that good. Heck, Dallas' championship team with Dirk was not that good, so Dallas fans should feel lucky to have won in that soft year with player injury.

Dirk was overrated too. Appears many Dallas fans simply like white men, that can’t jump. Uff da.

Good lord. Don’t understand the vitriol here. Short answer, if it is between signing Luka to the super max or getting the haul we got in return from the Lakers, then yes 100% you sign Luka. I don’t see how there is an argument to the other side. Defense can be built around him, see … checks notes… LAST SEASON. In a trade, he was worth worlds more than a perennially injured Davis, the one young talent in Christie and 1 first rounder.
