Go for it. I don't know what else you can really credit besides the addition of Meach/Cumbie.
Also worth noting Boykin was doing fine in the NFL pre-issues, he wasn't just a system guy.
1. Simply Maturation and Growth. Cumbie inherits a starter with double digit starts under his belt entering his 3rd year and for the first time its his team and his team alone. He is QB1 getting ALL the reps.
2. Brand New QB Friendly offense that caters to his physical gifts. Spread the field and throw quick reads. Cant even mention this without also mentioning the bafoonery of an OC situation we were left with when Fuente left. Comically bad
3. Supporting Cast - The team we fielded in 13 was incredibly young. 14 we returned 3 of our top 4 RBs and 9 WRs. They all matured and we added this guy you might have heard of the that would turn into a 1st round draft choice at WR.
6 OL who had starts under the belt didn’t hurt
4. Def was savage. I could elaborate but
Cumbie obviously helped but he was a very small reason for Boykin success. In fact Is credit Meachum and his offense more than Cumbie. The kid had big time legs and arm and we put him in an explosive offense that helped him showcase both. Combine that with the fact that he had played a ton by 14, he was bound to breakout.
For the Kenny Hill in 17 crowd...We had an offensive scheme overhaul. He was Senior, and like Boykin who had 20 starts under his belt. If Cumbie was a QB whisperer, why did it take Kenny 3 years in the system to find any consistency? He was learning for a whole year in 15..Again Cumbie is a great guy but a QB guru he is not..
