Coming into town for the OSU game. Looking for a good burger place. Remember a great place near Camp Bowie and University area. Don’t remember the name. It was a big joint with a lot of customers and memorabilia. Maybe it closed. Would appreciate your suggestions. Thanks.

Dutch’s on University gets a lot of love but I’m not terribly impressed with it. IIRC, Jon Bonell has a burger spot now on Berry right by campus. He’s a great dude, and I’ve never had something from one of his kitchens that wasn’t at least very good.
FWIW my go-to is Tommy’s on Granbury just north of 20. It’s a classic 1950s style place with outstanding burgers.

Ed: As many folks would tell you, avoid anything Tim Love. Pretty sure that every time someone eats one of his burgers, a puppy dies.

Ed 2: I meant Charley’s when I said Tommy’s. I love the bacon cheeseburger with added bleu.

Hasn't been mentioned yet, but M&O over by Montgomery plaza is real good.

I'm sure you're thinking of Kincaid's. It was great the last time I was there, although that's been a few years.

It has changed quite a bit; it was a grocery store where the owner cut off the shelves and turned them into counter tops but still sold limited items. As I recall it's been turned into pretty much 100% tables now, but the burgers are still great and I go out of my way to go there still (when I'm in town).

Depending on how many years ago he’s talking, the good burger spot near Camp Bowie and University might also be either Rodeo Goat or the original Fred’s. Although the cafe in the Modern has a great burger too.

Tommy's on Forest Park has a good burger. Jon's is also good, as is Charley's. Dutch's is just OK to me. but it's right across the street from campus.

We ate there yesterday. Just plain, old fashioned hamburgers, great tasting. (Sorry, no bacon or bleu cheese or mushrooms or chipotle sauce.). And they have the best fried onion rings in town.

Probably thinking of the old Jon's grill

No, it's not her 100% tables. It's still about 50% grocery shelves and 50% tables. This is the original one on Camp Bowie. The newer ones are all tables.

It's not my favorite burger, but I keep going back for the onion rings.

It's been a while. Thanks for the correction. I remember being surprised (and mildly disappointed) to see any tables at all.

Kincaids
Tommy's
Rodeo Goat
can't go wrong with any of those...
Not really a true burger...but a chopped BBQ w/cheese sandwich @ Railhead is hard to pass up!!
