BE puts expansion on hold

MTM you need to look at the footprint that each conference holds. Marinatto said this today

""Specifically, for example, the Big East Conference represents 30 percent of the households in America. You look at the Pac-12 footprint. You look at the Big East footprint, look at the ACC footprint. Obviously we deliver much more in terms of our households.""

With TX now in play that 30% will go up. With many house holds you have to figure they will use this as an arguing piece.

That was my point, and in regards to adding Texas, what I was saying is that if we add K, Kst and Missou that percentage gets over 35%. As a comparison to the Pac12, we would represent the same number of time zones, but a much larger percentage of the market along with having 10 instead of 6 of the top 35 DMAs in America. Our home attendance on a 5 year average is nearly equal. The ACC wouldnt be in our league as far as markets or attendance. We really need someone like Comcast to agree to a financial deal to help expand. Only then will we get quality teams.
Comcast has the pockets to do it. If they really want to get back at ESPN and Fox, they should help us get BYU, then take Kansas, Kansas St and Missou and then go on to 16 with Maryland, Georgia Tech and Miami. Talk about an amazing 16 team conference that would be worth the money. At that point we would have a presence in 13 of the top 35 DMAs and represent almost 40% of the country.... and all at the same time, we would screw Fox and ESPN while also pissing off Texas. Couldnt be more beautiful.
