2024 MLB Thread

I don't see anything that justifies Altuve being thrown out, but maybe it's an automatic when you start stripping, ha ha. The local broadcast said the plate ump should have checked with the other umpires.

Crazy but great game last night with bad umpires at soldout Padres; took 3 hours and 16 minutes to play a 4-3, 10 inning game.

One hopes the man behind the plate is not in the playoffs. Doesn’t have good eyes for the strike zone - inconsistent - sometimes laughable. They did want to get things right in a big game; some long delays for reviews and even one to talk to NY for a rule clarification, and still somehow got a couple things wrong.

Astros won after Astro Hader’s first pitch in the eighth was wild and runner on third tied it, and then Neris' first pitch in the 10th was also wild and put a man on 3rd with no outs. But wild Neris got through it scoreless with Altuve replacement, Grae Kessinger, helping out with a nifty play on Machada’s grounder to end the game.

^^^ So if your starter doesn't have his stuff and is getting lit up early, just fake an injury. "I felt a twinge in my elbow."
Not a fan of that Double hook DH rule either. No one wants to see pitchers hit. That's why the NL has the DH now.

OUCH!!!
6-6 , 3 HR, 2B, I0 RBI, 2 SB. Was that the best game ever in the best season ever?
Dude is just scheissing amazing. They said that his 40th homerun of the season was a walkoff grandslam. So how does he top that for #50, goes out and puts up that statline tonight.

He just missed out on hitting for the cycle because he got thrown out at 3rd base on one of his doubles.

Kirby Puckett hit 6 of 6 with two homers and two doubles on August 30, 1987 at Milwaukee - a 10-6 win.

He hit 6-7 (5 singles and a triple) in extra innings at the Metrodome versus the Rangers on May 23, 1991, an 11 inning loss, also a 10-6 score.

"Kirby Puckett joined Jim Bottomley, Jimmie Foxx and Doc Cramer as the only players in AL/NL history to record six hits in a game more than once. (Lou Sauritch/National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum)"

Those two seasons were also the Twins two World Series victories.

Now that really would’ve been insane

Had to do something to get yesterday's beat down off of my mind so I decided to come to the Rangers game and get a World Series ring. It's my second one this year. Got Marcus Semien back in June and got Adolis today. They're really nice for an in stadium giveaway.Screenshot_20240922-140421_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20240922-140430_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20240922-140437_Gallery.jpg

TCU's Benavides takes over David Bell in Cincinnati, at least in final week:
