Is a win over Oklahoma enough to salvage TCU’s season?

After handling Baylor for another year, TCU’s football program finds itself with one final game on the regular season schedule against top-15 Oklahoma.

The two programs will vie for two completely different things on Friday: The Sooners are hoping to stay alive for a berth in the Big 12 championship game, the Horned Frogs need one win to secure bowl eligibility.

For TCU the question the program must ponder is whether a win over Oklahoma is enough to salvage the season. The answer is complicated.

Shock the Boomers & go win the bowl game. 7-6 ain’t great, but ending the season with a winning record & 3 wins in a row can build momentum for 2024.

The reason why so many Frog fans want us to flame out in Norman & get embarrassed on Black Friday is they believe that will force Sonny to fire his OC & DC. I hate to break it to everyone but we could lose 50-0 & nothing is going to change. Sonny - just like GP - is not going to fire his buddies.

No. The elation everyone is feeling from beating a 3-7 team feels a lot like the aftermath of the BYU game, where the season was supposedly about to turnaround bcuz TCU "found its QB", only for us to follow that up with 3 straight losses. THAT was the stretch where the season could have been salvaged. For me, a win this week would only be a temporary band-aid over what's about to be a long off-season and a lot of angst going into next season. Beating OU will not heavily impact recruiting. What recruit would be swayed by one win at the end of the season and ignore the other 11 games? Our best win is against SMU, which speaks volumes.
