GoFrogs: Hill Named Davey O'Brien Award Semifinalist

FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU's Kenny Hill has been announced as a semifinalist for the 2017 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award.

Presented annually to the nation's top quarterback, the Davey O'Brien Award is named after the TCU great who won the 1938 Heisman Trophy en route to leading the Horned Frogs to their second national championship in four seasons.

Hill has guided the No. 8 Horned Frogs to an 8-1 overall record and 5-1 mark in the Big 12. His 68.0 completion percentage, on pace to set a TCU season record, ranks fifth nationally. He is also among the FBS leaders in passing efficiency with a 148.4 rating.

A senior from Southlake, Texas, Hill has completed 69.5 percent of his third-down passes this season. Over the last four games, he’s at 72.2 percent on third down with 16 of his 26 completions resulting in first downs. For the season, TCU is sixth nationally in third-down conversions at 50.0 percent.

Hill's 12 straight completions in the 24-7 win over Texas were second-most for a game in TCU history.

In the 31-24 victory over West Virginia, Hill became the fourth player in Big 12 history, and the second in a conference game, to rush for a touchdown, throw for a score and catch a TD pass.

TCU’s Trevone Boykin was a two-time finalist (2014-15) for the Davey O'Brien Award, while Andy Dalton was a 2010 semifinalist.
