No, by the Big 12 losing a bunch of mediocre teams.

The big 12 would not be 1A SEC

But it would be stronger than the extremely weak football league in the ACC.

People need to realize, the big 12 doesnt need to be better than the PAC 12 (MASSIVELY overrated conference) or the SEC. They just need to be better than the ACC.

I would take OU and Texas from revenue/strength as a better nucleus than everyone save maybe 2 teams in the SEC. Even then bama sucked for decades

no way in hell boise gets an invite anywhere

I think this comment is the saddest possible remark on the conference realignment thought process. It's equivalent to, all they offer is superior on-field excellence...which apparently counts for next to nothing nowadays.

Pathetic, just pathetic.

Here's a nice summary of the report and it's implications for the Big East, if true:

Possibility: UConn, Rutgers and USF are all that remains of BE football schools.

I remember a lot of screaming on this and other boards a while back, about who did/did not "deserve" a place in an AQ conference. I have done some of it. Today, for me there's no joy in these folks being booted out of the dance. Even Rutgers, arguably the worst of that lot even though their football history goes back to the first intercollegiate game ever played.

Better them than TCU, I suppose.

It's not pathetic. Academic wise they are worse than tech. Athletic wise? Their football is good. But Basketball, baseball, etc. They have nothing. I don't even know if they field teams in those sports. Population size? Tyler, Texas brings more eyeballs than Boise.
