Also let's think logically here. Why would anyone in their right mind go to Miss St for 20K LESS than attending Auburn??? It seems like it would be the other way around.

one of the top programs in the SEC vs. a bottom feeder.......

This is bogus

Dan Mullen was the OC at Florida when Newton was there.

If true, then he's gone...however, we don't want this to happen. If Auburn loses him for any reason, the SEC excuse machine will get cranked up. We want them, with him, in Glendale.

I doubt there will be anyone making excuses for someone who took money to sign and if so they would be laughed out of the house. Doubt any of this will go down in time to reverse the outcomes to date. LSU might have a case though. We don't want them in Glendale unless we are on the other side of the ball. They have a better chance of losing than Oregon and one of them needs to lose.

Is this the same unnamed, highly trusted source that said we are going to the Sugar Bowl to play Florida?? The unnamed, highly trusted sources around here are about as solid as a paper bag.

Let's not forget that CBS' Vern Lundquist said on the air that Cam left Florida after he heard that Tebow was coming back for another season. Good old Coverup Vern. He said this after it was already known to SEC writers that Newton cheated on a test and had a part in a computer thef and Florida was getting rid of him.

Hard to go up against the Fix.

Even if there was substantial proof, this thing wouldn't get resolved for a year and teams would be stripped in the record books of accomplishments versus not allowed to compete for them this year. Better to root for losses than proof of cheating, boys.

Miss. State is the school involved, at least in reports so far.
The Auburn-Miss St game is the only time I've watched Auburn this year. I know Miss St is having a decent year and the rest of the SEC is down, but Auburn looked very beatable in that game. Newton was clearly the man among boys, but not any more than Griffin is for Baylor.

Just called and got details. Bill in Destin, Florida is Miss donor and has phone recording of Cam Newtons dad saying Auburn agreed to pay $200k but he would go to Miss for only $180. Very detailed conversation about method of payment and 3 installments of $60, first before signing and second on signing. Said he gave tape to NCAA last week after story started breaking. Already had death threats from Auburn fans.

It will be interesting to see how/if this develops. The SEC is pretty good about hiding this kind of stuff q

When the story first broke, I thought it was the other way around. Offer was $200k but allegedly could get him to sign for $180k at Auburn.

If there is anything to this it will either stay behind closed doors until it is too late to effect this season, or they will get it out quick so they can kick the kid out, have Auburn lose a couple and start the hype machine for why a one loss LSU should be in the NC game.
