I'm Warming Up To Briles

I think folks hung up on this need to ask themselves had KB supposedly said, Do you like girls?” would they still be feeling whatever they are feeling.

If the answer is no then they need further to ask themselves why.
Great, then let’s add Art Briles to the staff as well. If you your answer to that is no way, you need to ask yourself why that’s any different.

What I was glad to see is we didn't abandon the run. SMOO had it rather well contained in the first half, but we stuck with it. Kept their defense honest, and the rush game came to life as we wore them down in the 2H.

Also, Morris is looking more and more comfortable. That's an easy TD if he lofts that ball up for Wiley instead of trying to rifle it into his ribs (IIRC that was the fake FG drive). Other than that, he played well.

We're rounding into form, it seems.

Just my opinion, KB's girl comment is the hang up for many... definitely not something to boast, but as mentioned earlier, it's the color descriptor that's the issue with some folks.... to which I ask if he would have used the term "black" would they be as upset? All that said, I knew girls at Baylor and TCU who were the chosen "escorts" for recruits (and they volunteered for those positions). So the comment is 100% true at every major school. However, in no way was it tasteful - especially given the level of systemic issues that Baylor had with protecting women.

As for my views, improve red zone offense and get rid of the tape on the fingers!!!

We all have our own crosses to bear, Vicar. I certainly have mine. But this man offered up coeds as bait to recruits in a program rife with sexual assault, for which he’s never repented. And so we offer him the same position at TCU, and what we’re supposed to sweep that under the rug? If that’s your move, I wish you well, but it won’t be mine. Ever.

Not denying something very evil and unjust happened down in Waco. But I think Briles easily became the lightening rod for the Administration, and we don't have all the information.

What do you need to check the repentance box? How do you know Briles, Jr. hasn't repented? In terms of repentance, it doesn't always mean contrition/sorrow/flagellation. It can simply mean changing your mind, reorienting, realigning. It would appear to my eyes that lessons were learned and there isn't any pattern following him. Is there any reason to not trust our own administration in their vetting?

But at some point, you have to do your own repentance and say, "What have I turned a blind eye to? What have I let slide in my own life?" That part is under our own control. Spiritually speaking here, deep down we all love a villain story, because it situates us as the "good guys." We love to feel like we are the good guys because then we don't have to do anything about ourselves.

Deepest talent at WR we’ve ever had and the execution is lackluster.

Red zone calls are maddening, so are 3rd and short

lackluster? define what would be acceptable

as far as red zone, personally believe that starts with struggles running the ball where you have to be able to knock people off the line of scrimmage

Every dude on this board was told, consider TCU cuz the girls are hot. We all thank the person with the recommendation. We didn't ostracize said person and pretend they were awful...especially since 100% of us repeated the observation...including the women.

Get over yourself tyler. Your Baylor hatred is no reason to extend it to TCU.

Bingo.

The "I don't know about you, but I would never do this or that, etc etc", or "you might be ok with that, but i never will be" kind of posts are the smh ones to me. Spare me the moral superiority.

Nobody really knows exactly what went on between Baylor co-eds. Lots of accusations, lots of investigations, lots of creative adjectives to describe what went on, very little actual detail, and honestly very little in the way of convictions. At the end of the day Art Briles didn't spend one day in jail and he was escorted out the door with $15M in his pocket. The whole thing was a mess and without knowing details I try and withhold too much judgement. I guess people want Kendal to say he's sorry or something. Like I said before, that's not going to happen. He's not going to apologize for things that either didn't happen or that he wasn't responsible for, nor should he. Apologies are admissions of guilt.

Art Briles apologized. Two Baylor football players were convicted.

He apologized, but not for anything he did, more of a general apology to the victims that something happened to them. I think one of the guys was allowed to remain enrolled at Baylor after he was kicked off the football team.

Yes, two were convicted. How many were accused? Seemed like half the roster at the time.

I'm not here to take up "the other side" of the argument and I don't have a strong opinion but since you brought it up, the part of his apparent comment that was cringey was the end of it ("and they like football players"), especially given the fact that the comment was probably made at a time when accusations and trials were ongoing (trials were happening in 2014). That to me showed questionable judgment.

The exact comment has never been verified so I’d be careful about parsing it too closely when no one knows for certain the exact words or context. It’s a hearsay report

I can guarantee you that this particular dude was not told that. Wasn't a particular reason for me to go to Brite. Now, granted that the fact that there were beautiful women at TCU after I got there was nice, but not the main reason I went.
