In line with the last sentence.. Does anyone know if Little Briles was on staff with Papa Briles when Baylor did that whole run adjustment for a bowl game when they had no healthy QB, and ran for like 700 yards?

Old Fred was a pretty good coach and recruiter. We beat Texas in 68 and won our last 4 games- that hadn’t been happening!

1997 SMU the end of Sully 1-10 but TCU's W kept the Ponies out of a bowl game.
1992 UTexas - we hadn't beat them in decades and (unusual for the time) we did it on a National broadcast on CBS. We were "lil' 'ole TCU!"

Coach Taylor was a pretty nice Guy, but he was NOT a good coach at the D-1 Varsity level. You have the 1967 team confused with the '68 team .. TCU beat Texas in Austin in 1967 not '68. Fred's 4 year record was15 - 25. Not the mark of a good coach. Fred's problems as the head coach did not come from his decisions regarding his play calling. Rather it was his willingness to maintain the traditions of ALL (except Ted Plumb) coaches had to be Frog lettermen. Incest is not a good trait in a marriage or a coaching staff. On top of all of that he failed to control those coaches on the staff who were a cancer to the program. Those who played on those 67-70 teams know of I whom I speak.
