The Spun: Former TCU Coach Gary Patterson Makes His Intentions About Coaching Clear

So four of the worst six losses in the last 24 years have been in the last 3 years. That is interesting. I'd say Georgia is the best team the program faced in those 24 years though, by maybe a decent margin, although that 2017 OU team that manhandled us twice might not have been far behind.

OSU and ISU were the biggest quits of them all
KSU and WVU just kicked our ass
Tech wasn't as bad as the final score, we were actually tied at half
OU could have beaten us by 10 scores in both of those games in 2017 if they wanted to. They scored easy touchdowns on roughly 5 straight possessions in each game when the game was not yet in doubt. Lincoln owned GP’s defense.

Pretty sure I saw Gary quit on a few games as well...Oklahoma comes to mind.
Absolutely. He did know when he was beat and tried to rope off the humiliation. Hated it when I thought we were good. Totally agree he did this the most against OU. One time in FW early big 12 he did this bd we were totally in the game. Flip the page and he goes for 2 in the 3rd with a 3rd string qb in a hurricane. Never understood it, but he knows bette then me. Not sarcasm.

I want to see if Sonny is going to shake up his coaching staff this offseason. If he does not do that, then his leash should be shorter than GP's. If he keeps the same staff and we get the same results next year, then his seat should be very hot next year. After all, that was why we fired GP: he refused to make any changes, but expected us to get different results.

Ultimately, it will be up to our top boosters when or if we fire Sonny. I don't see ADJD eating a huge salary like Sonny's plus his staff and then a new coach and a new staff, too. We are not ATM and thank God for that.
I loved every second of last year, but if Sonny doesn’t make major changes, his floor to stay should be 8 games next year.

I hear what you're saying. But take a Bama, LSU, tOSU, or some other blue blood reject over another BU-ex on the sideline.
Quite a few times we were down multiple scores in the 4th quarter, and the punt team came out on 4th and short.
The ‘lose by less’ strategy. Hated it.

Getting paid $76M not to do your job anymore is pretty close to perfect, I reckon. But there's few that lucky, and almost as few stupid enough to pay it.
They should have resigned his ass to go sit in a cube for 8 hours a day until he says scheiss it and gives the tx taxpayers back their money. [ What the heck? ] do you pay people to scheiss you?

TEs all day. I see it in my mind right now from jerryworld before I drank to infinity and beyond. Hicks fumble in the 1st set the tone on that one but we didn’t have a chance. Baker owned is. Double [ profanity ] bag but he owned us… and I still think Cleveland mistreated him.

I suspect the biggest hurdle for Patterson getting a P4 head coaching job is that his school of 20+ years, where he has a campus statue because he resurrected the program and finished in the Top Ten 7 times including #2 and #3, and was assumed to be tenured, fired him.

If he did not have the baggage that entails, and had simply decided he wanted a year off and to then begin anew with an opportunity at a state flagship with maybe more resources than TCU, he might already have a new gig.
