Paywall warning.
Olson gives a fairly balanced take. The last part is the best takeaway. And the comments are as lively as ours.
Countless former TCU players came to Patterson’s defense on Monday, vouching for his character and their time in the program. What matters more right now, though, is how his current team chooses to respond. Trevon Moehrig, TCU’s All-Big 12 safety, posted a note in defense of Patterson on Monday night. Moehrig argued his coach’s use of the slur was “misconstrued” publicly. Patterson’s conversations with the team since then give him confidence that positive change will come from this.
“What I will say is that I know the kind of person Coach P is and where his heart is at,” Moehrig wrote.
