What would be uninteresting about a 16-team tournament?
The fact that only the big conferences would be represented. It’s like the football championship was back with only two teams that were placed due to SEC is best conference because ESPN says so and nobody else getting a fair shot. SEC fans don’t like this because they actually have to earn the wins to get to a championship instead of just automatically being placed in the game.

Don't get him started on that [ Finebaum ] lol! We had to listen to enough of that during the CFP.

I think SEC fans love the expanded football playoff. Why wouldn’t they? I’m sure they love this tournament. 85% of their teams are in.

Very few people care about college basketball until now.
Most people who watch the tourney don't care about college basketball at all. Other than a very select few, nobody watches regular season college basketball, especially outside of the conference their local team plays in. That's because the games aren't interesting.

Almost everyone who fills out one of the 35 million online brackets, and those who fill out brackets for office pools, has never watched more than a handful of games in a given season. They pick winners and losers based on the seed number, bias from seeing a team in a prior tourney, hating a school, etc. And it's fun to pick a 12 or 13 seed and have them win. My wife fills out a bracket because it's fun to compete, even though she admits she has no clue what she's doing.

People love underdogs, at every level of every sport. You think people didn't like us beating Michigan? Seems like you should realize that this board hates tOSU. People hate favorites in all sports like UT, Duke, and every #1 seed. Removing those underdogs would suck.

Zero out of 35 million brackets are perfect. With 16 teams you'd have a ton of perfect brackets, which would remove the fun of the brackets too. I suppose you could make it 16 teams and make it only about good basketball. The average casual fan wouldn't watch, though.

Now back to hoping that Yale can come back and smoke the Aggies.

Like I said, let’s just make it 256 teams them. That’d be fun, wouldn’t it? Why not?
