Jack, I knew it would be you that got it correct.  John Ed was the first TCU athlete that I know of who had his own entourage. He came in as a JUCO for the 1966-67 season.

Anybody remember Snake Williams from the early 70's?  Absolutely the quickest guy I ever saw.   

 
He could really beat the pressing defenses and get the ball up court. IMO, humble as it is, I think the '70-'71 team that Snake played on is the best all-time at TCU:
