Taylor Press: Kerley reaches NFL

Texas Christian University senior receiver, and Hutto native, Jeremy Kerley, became the first Hippo football player to reach the NFL Saturday when he was selected by the New York Jets 153rd overall in the fifth round.
The Jets traded up eight spots with the Philadelphia Eagles to take the local legend.
Kerley will have a chance to play receiver for the Jets, especially if Brad Smith does not resign as free agent, but it is at returner on punts that the rookie will make an immediate impact.
“I’m definitely a special-teams guy,” Kerley said. “I know what makes me, and my special teams ability is what makes me the player that I am.” ...
