In the 37 seconds left on the game clock following Jonathan Song’s go-ahead 28-yard field goal, all that the TCU offense could do was watch.
With a 17-14 lead now in the Horned Frogs’ hands, it was up to Gary Patterson’s defense to hold up the walls of the fort against a pesky Iowa State squad that crushed TCU’s hopes and dreams in their previous meeting. At that point, the 42,664 fans on hand at Amon G. Carter Stadium were just trying to keep a smile after seeing sophomore quarterback Shawn Robinson exit the game with an injury several plays earlier.
