* Presidents from the SEC will not meet on Sunday to discuss the possible move of Texas A&M to the SEC, a high-ranking official from the SEC told Sporting News on Saturday.

* The source also confirmed that, to date, there has been no formal discussion about which program, if there is a Texas A&M addition, could join the conference next. But, the source added, there is no chance of the expansion stretching beyond 14 teams.

* Despite all of the signs pointing to an A&M departure, the path is not completely smooth. Texas A&M signed a 10-year contract with the Big 12 last year. A&M would likely argue that Texas' Longhorn Network and its partnership with ESPN changed the dynamics of the league, which might allow A&M to get out of its contract without severe penalty. No one, not even the Big 12, knew the LHN's intention to televise high school games -- since prohibited by the NCAA -- or more than one Big 12 league game involving Texas.

The legal hurdles could stall a move, if not stop it all together. The Big 12 has a 13-year, $1.2 billion contract with FOX, a deal settled with the understanding that Texas A&M would be in the Big 12.

A source from the SEC told the New York Times: "We're very sensitive about being part of breaking a contract. What we asked then to do was to go settle their issues and not have us be on the table as the agent of causing them to leave."
