Remembering a moment of unity between Texas and Texas A&M

Great article here about the 1999 UT / A&M game, right after the bonfire tragedy. I'm glad they will be playing again this year.

Here's the entire halftime show:

There was another, lesser-known episode of assistance between the 2 schools. Back in the late 70s, some Aggies, filled with school spirit, decided to re-paint the campus radio station's radio tower from the required orange and white to their preferred maroon and white. The FCC was not amused and stepped in, giving notice to the school to put it right. In a show of friendship, the UT student senate offered to send several gallons of orange paint to College Station, as they were sure there wasn't enough orange paint in all of Aggieland to do the job properly.

For them to not play every year, even when they weren’t in the same league, is just so dumb. Games like that are what college sports should be all about. I feel the same way about us and SMU & Baylor. And throw Tech in there as well.
