Patterson talked to a gathering today to view the updated football facilities after Del Conte introduced him.. He said that football facilities are the "front door" to the program and so important to recruiting.. And he can tell within 5 minutes of a kid's arrival on his first visit whether TCU is likely to get him or not.. He thanked all the donors for their support.. He said that he wanted to make sure all of the other sports at TCU got what they needed before the football program got its new digs (after being in the other facilities for 17 years).. He said his first seniors are in their 40's now and joke about the difference from then to now..

He said that when he's recruiting, he's known as Gary.. He talks to the recruits about a lot about other things than football.. When he's at practice, he's Coach Patterson, the tough guy.. He also talks to players after they get here about a lot of other things- about life..

Frog Club employees took groups on a tour from the Founders Club where lunch was served through the halls of the football facilities where each position group has its own meeting room with video and chairs that don't recline (staff said to thank Jaime Dixon for that) and each position coaches offices.. Then we went into Patterson's office that overlooks the south end zone and the field.. The crowning touch is the player's game room with video games, basketball mini-hoops and tables for our recruits to sell other recruits (staff said for example where Shawn Robinson sits to sell other '18 recruits) and comfortable seating for players to watch other games on game day..

These facilities are incredible- it's no wonder we're getting looks from guys who used to never give us the time of day..
