It was actually a Democratic party primary election...LBJ was the more conservative, establishment candidate....Opponent was progressive Coke Stevenson....But in the 1940s, the Republican party was still negligible in its influence, still being considered as the evil purveyor of Reconstruction in Texas....

I'm pretty much a libertarian, but vote Republican. I really don't look forward to dying, because that's the only way I'm voting democrat....

You don’t have to wait if you live in Nevada or arizona. Somebody will mail in a democratic ballot for you.
