No Mobile QB worth a darn brought in since 2018 with Max

Why didn't Dykes go get a mobile QB like KState did after last year?

I give Briles credit for already getting two commits from extremely mobile QBs, but it may be too late. The end of the Gary/Meach years along with the biggining of the Riley/Dykes really set up back on QBs.

Mobile QB get hurt and then your season is over. Find pocket passers who are accurate. Hoover is gonna be good, but he needs an oline who can consistently block for him and the RB.

Sure. That's why KState went and got a true freshman mobile QB after winning the big 12....and proceeded to have him run it down our throat with ease. But you're right, if we only give Hoover three more years, maybe something will change. You're a bit like Gillespie...learned nothing from the difference between Morris and Duggan.

To be fair, it was a perfect storm of bad timing.
Going in to ’22 we were stacked at QB with Max, Morris, Jackson, & Hoover, and all of them had multiple years of eligibility remaining.
At the end of the season Max & Jackson left; then Riley announced he was leaving. Riley’s timing was devastating, as this turmoil occurred during the prime portal opening from Dec 5 - Jan 18. This prevented us from landing an RPO QB in the prime period, and there weren’t any good QBs left in the April window.

As a result, we were left with a very fragile injury prone starter & a 4th stringer (who has improved greatly) at QB.

Still the biggest issue is the OL/DL. Either the players are not P5 level, or the scheme/coaching is weak, or both.

Totally agree—OL/DL are not even close to Big 12 Championship caliber
