NJ Star-Ledger: Jeremy Kerley looking to claw into Jets' gameplan with Wildcat

By Jenny Vrentas/The Star-Ledger

Jeremy Kerley jubilantly took to Twitter late Monday night, announcing that the Jets had “let me loose” in the Wildcat formation.

“Lookin like it’s gonna stay in the game plan!!” he wrote.

Kerley, the Jets’ confident fifth-round pick, craves chances to get his hands on the football. In Monday’s 17-3 preseason victory against the Giants, four of those chances came via direct snaps in the team’s Wildcat package — the first time the Jets had used it in a preseason game this summer, in the post-Brad Smith era.

The results? Encouraging. The Jets gained 39 yards on those four plays — plus another for no gain that was negated by a holding penalty — as Kerley kept the ball, pitched it and passed, putting his training as a high-school option quarterback to good use. ...

Kerley ran the wildcat to perfection Monday. If Patterson would have wanted to go towards that direction 4 years ago, Jeremy would have made a very good College QB.

Can't find any clips of him running it, but here's a postgame interview with him. He's sporting a TCU shirt (you can't tell until the very end) and the interviewer even talks a little Horned Frogs with him.
