New favorite sport: Chess-boxing is out, Kronum is in

Kronum was invented in Philadelphia and they already have teams, cheerleaders, and fantasy Kronum. Seriously.

The game is played on a circular field. Each team has two goals, and two goalies. The goals are shaped like soccer goals, with Quidditch rings on top. Also, the rules are somewhat debatable and can be changed by a majority vote. So, yeah, Calvinball.

This is awesome. Anyone want to start a club?

The only way I can think to make this sport more awesome would be to have three teams on the field at once.

You could have three teams at once. A yellow team, a blue team and a red team. Green goal could be scored on by yellow and blue. Orange by red and yellow. Purple by blue and red. The fourth goal is black, and can be scored on by anyone for half the points.

Looks like a recipe for sheer chaos. Cool.

OR -- this is gonna sound downright confusing -- a different team defends the neutral goal each period -- each goal scored in the neutral goal subtracts the corresponding number of points from the defending team (making negative scores possible), BUT, each chamber goal the team defending the neutral goal scores in the other teams' goals is worth 1 more point, and every ring goal 2 more points.

Also, the team defending the neutral goal receives an extra player -- wearing a black or white jersey -- who may not enter his own team's flex zone/wedge zone/goal zone but may freely roam the rest of the field and use his hands in every other wedge zone -- which, obviously, would make him his team's most dangerous scoring threat on offense and the primary defender of the neutral goal when one of the other two teams is in possession of the ball.

The penalty for the extra player entering his own team's zone is his confinement to that zone for the remainder of the period; if he leaves his zone during confinement, he shall be removed from the game.

I believe that unless you live in or around the Philadelphia area, your chances of playing this are rather limited. But who knows, it could spread.
