A few things with DMC:
First, we all realize the concourses are a bit cramped, and you shouldn't have to go down to the basement to use the restroom. Capacity may seem alright for now, but basketball isn't the only issue. We hold graduation ceremonies there, and we may want to use it for more concerts and the like in the future. That could factor into arena decisions. Also, no suites. I know, I know, who would want to buy a suite for TCU basketball? But who wanted a suite for TCU baseball back in 2001? And once Big East teams start coming in, and assuming the team improves at all, those things would sell and provide a major revenue stream. Maybe some club seating, too. If UTA can pull it off, so can we. And it's not a big deal, but it ain't the prettiest building around. Sometimes when I catch it in the right light I can see how someone back in the '60s thought it would look cool, but those moments are rare.
Also, a round arena? Court's a rectangle, seating area should be a rectangle. Get people closer to the action.
The team shouldn't have to "earn" a new arena. If we're serious about being competitive, we have to make the investment in facilities. Schollmaier's a nice start, but this can't be avoided.
