OMAHA, Neb. – All great seasons end in Omaha, Nebraska, home of the College World Series.
 
But the greatest of seasons just get started in this old railroad, cattle town of nearly 500,000 known as the “Gateway to the West.”
 
Omaha has basically been a gated community for LSU since it first went in 1986 as Tiger fans are the favorites of the various restaurant and bar owners partly because of their sheer numbers in the establishments and on the bills.
 
The Tigers have won six national championships here, including five from 1991 through 2000 under former coach Skip Bertman. The No. 2-seeded Tigers (53-10) will open their 17th CWS appearance and second in three years at 2 p.m. Sunday on ESPN against No. 7 seed TCU (49-13) in 24,505-seat TD Ameritrade Park. ...
