Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: UW corners Brinkley, Fenelus have made giant strides

Los Angeles — For most of last spring, Wisconsin defensive coordinator Dave Doeren's comfort level with the play of the cornerbacks vacillated with the changing weather.
"I didn't have one," he said bluntly. "I was hopeful, disappointed because certain days that is what I thought we were going to get and the next day it was: 'Where did they go?' "
First-year secondary coach Chris Ash, a close friend of Doeren's from their days together at Drake, offered a message of reassurance:
Relax, Dave.
"He said: 'Look, by the end of training camp they are going to be good,' " Doeren recalled. "That was his deal. He said we're going to have this process.
"I believe in him. I understood where he was coming from, but you always want fast results." ...
