Kirk Bohls "Don't expect to see TCU" invited to Big 12

Houston is the 10th largest market.

Louisville ranks 48th.

Cincinnati is 33rd.....Nippert Stadium seats 35,097....and their average attendance at Nippert last year was 27,525....per the schools website.

I don't see the appeal of either school to the B12.

If they invite those schools it will be because they aren't in Texas and they are in the conference that TCU is going to. It will be a predatory move on their part towards TCU.

Taking Cincinnati will be a heavy price to pay to kill the BEast. I could see them taking WVU in a predatory move.....Cincinnati not so much.

I agree. I don't think WVa would have too much interest in the Big 12 though. They want SEC or ACC. Honestly, I don't think many Big East schools are interested in the Big 12 unless they think a collapse is around the corner. I wouldn't put it past the Big 12 to float a bunch of rumors to make them nervous though.

what big city are the mississippi schools by, i would say lubbock has more people than any town in that state

Ole Miss is less than 100 miles to Memphis. As far as the size of Lubbock, it is bigger than Jackson, MS. However, take in the surrounding areas around Jackson and the population might be about the same or bigger than the area around Lubbock.

I meant to add earlier......granted, if the B12 would take Cincinnati it would clearly be a strictly predatory move.

Jackon's DMA is more than twice the size of Lubbock's (334k to 160k):

Lubbock itself is pretty much completely irrelevant to any appeal Tech has.

Who said TCU had a problem with fan support? We averaged 42K playing MWC teams last year.

Here's some teams in BCS conferences who played BCS schedules to compare to.

Baylor 40K

Iowa St 45K

Kansas 44K

Colorado 46K

GA Tech 46K

Indiana 41K

Syracuse 40K

Purdue 48K

Oregon St. 45K

Northwestern 36K

Minnessota 49K

So why would someone say that TCU has problems with fan support when so many BCS schools average in the 40 - 50K range for attendance?
What Roddog is really saying with attendance smack, is TT is terrible and everbody knows it.

I got my information from the census information from 2006. It shows Jackson having a population of 176,614 while Lubbock has a population of 212,169. Your information is more current and relevant than mine.

Their appeal is they are not TCU.

I hear what you're saying. But Louie and Cinci dilute their conference.......heavy price to pay out of concern for losing an occassional recruit to TCU. And we've had our success mostly with the kids Texas had little to no interest in anyhow.....but, that's a different debate for a different time.

Adding Louie and Cinci is like cutting off your nose to spite your face. Either one will weaken their conference.

Seems dumb to me.

You know, I just re-visited my data, and surprisingly enough, it's based on something called "TV Homes." Lubbock probably does have 212k+ people, but the relative size of the TV markets still stands, as does Lubbock's irrelevance to the media market issue.
