Men's Basketball Poll Watching Week 14: TCU, Oklahoma Drop Out of Both Polls

Story by Barry Lewis

Once again, the TCU Horned Frogs (16-6, 5-4) dropped out of both the AP Top 25 and Coaches Polls this week after having just re-entered both polls last week. After defeating Oklahoma State and Baylor on the road, TCU was No. 25 in the Week 13 polls. Last week, the Frogs beat No. 15 Texas Tech but lost to Texas on Saturday. That loss pushed them out of the polls for Week 14.

This week, in addition to the Frogs, the only other team to drop out of both polls was another school from the Big 12 - Oklahoma. The Sooners beat Kansas State in midweek action last week but lost a road game at UCF on Saturday.

If you look at the standings after last night's KU-KSU game, we would be top of the conference standings right now with a 6-3 record and tiebreaker over Houston had justice been done in Lawrence. In other words, rankings be d----ed, this team is still in a good spot. We've got a week off, then a four-game run in two weeks of @Iowa State, @ Tech, vs. WVU, and @ KSU. WVU is a must-win, and we need to snatch one of those three on the road: 2-2 over this stretch will do fine. If we get into the last week of February at 7-6 or better we'll still be on course for the big dance and will have a chance at a decent seed (the only small number before your team name that actually matters).
