A Seattle friend was told by a UW alum that Penix will receive $2.5 million to stay one more year, his 6th year of college. Appears Penix was projected to be drafted 1st to 3rd round, but his poor injury history from 2018-21 would have made the 1st round doubtful. Two ACL’s, a sternoclavicular joint and his left shoulder. Now watch him get hurt again in Game 1 next year.A good article on Huard, a five-star QB, #3 QB recruit in the 2021 class. He and his family are Washington natives, and his dad, Damon Huard, was QB at Washington and then the NFL. Sam dreamed of playing at Washington but is moving on because he has not played since 2019 (2020 pandemic messed up his HS senior year) and wants to start in 2023.
Micheal Penix surprised everybody and decided to stay for his 6th year and Huard is not willing to wait. Penix left Indiana after 2021 and became a star at Washington, last year a crazy 4600 yards passing with 31 TD’s and only 8 picks. I wonder why he was not in NY for the Heisman.
I doubt Sam Huard would be interested in TCU because, again, the competition of having to beat out Morris.

Caple: Sam Huard, the transfer portal and the price of elite talent acquisition
Huard always wanted to be a Husky, committing as a sophomore and holding firm through the transition from Chris Petersen to Jimmy Lake.theathletic.com
He can do a lot for his future with 2.5 mil in the bank, even if (god forbid) he gets hurt.A Seattle friend was told by a UW alum that Penix will receive $2.5 million to stay one more year, his 6th year of college. damn, never was any good reading one of these things
No they were all right. Anyone who talks negatively about TCU is just a realist. Anyone who talks positively is a purple glasses wearing kool-aid drinker.so a narrative by multiple national talking heads starting with herbstreit during the game is that tcu just can't compete at the elite level, we had a couple of posters on this site proclaim the loss was so catastrophic that not only would this season be marred, but that the damage would extend from the team to the athletic department, and across the university (expecting to see the campus converted to an outlet mall very soon)
now however, the #40 recruit in the nation last year, not the 40th in louisiana or the 40th ranked quarterback prospect, but the 40th ranked recruit in the nation, a guy you would think has a few options, is strongly considered transferring to tcu?
oh, dad is a former lsu quarterback himself so you would think if there are any immediate flashing red lights concerning the future of the tcu football program the two of them might be able to spot them, but does that mean those others were wrong about the future of the frogs?

Everyone says this, but it’s not like he’s been getting his ribs broken from big hits because he’s too small and frail to take a hit. His injury issues have nothing to do with size. The one this season was a non-contact knee ligament injury. Could’ve happened to anyone.Chandler Morris has not proven he can make it through a season, let alone back to back games. How can he be considered the "starter"? I'm not saying he doesn't have talent or isn't capable, but he would need an NFL offensive line to keep him healthy throughout the season. No way he could endure the hits Max took game after game.
Losing Jackson is very sad indeed, as I have a feeling he would be playing quite a bit next season.
Dykes and Co really need a very good ready to go transfer starter. Just my opinion.
To be clear, I 100% think we need a stud QB transfer this season. There is no way you can go in to 2023 with Morris and Hoover alone.I'd hate to see us drop way off after this past season being what it was. The QB is so pivotal to success - I hope Dykes and Riley get it figured out and have depth to call on.
Believe it was a knee. I say we need some more potential starting QBs simply because it's dicey for any team to go into a season without a capable backup and just hoping their starter can go without injury, plus the fact that we really don't know what CM is going to be able to deliver on a weekly basis.Everyone says this, but it’s not like he’s been getting his ribs broken from big hits because he’s too small and frail to take a hit. I’ll be honest, I don’t even remember what last years injury was, but I don’t think he took a big hit he couldn’t handle because he’s a smaller man.
Or maybe he has week joint ligaments? I don’t know.

Really hoping it’s Walker Howard.
From sources, it appears the AVERAGE nil deal is approx 38,500. Unless you're a big name, then the figure can go anywhere from there. ie: if you're a big name QB, proven, I understand it jumps to 7 fig. About a month ago, Mack Brown claimed one QB demanded and came very close to the five mil fig. The question I hv and not found or heard an answer, that 38,500 fig, is that a contract for one year or a longer period of time? It has to be a yearly fig to me. That 38,500 is close to the average of an employee compensation nationally. Of course, that fig is liquid depending on state, city, and talent and playing position. (RB verses lineman) I also understand that 38,500 is a base number and can go up with incentives. This kinda makes sense because there has to be a base number, of a reg NIL deal. Coaches are wanting a set number of NIL from the NCAA, but they can't come together, however everyone knows this has to be controlled. We have reached the point where players make more by playing college football than going to the NFL.

My Louisiana counterpart at my company played for LSU back in the day. He told me last year that we were Walker Howard’s 2nd choice, he loved TCU.The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Howard was a five-star quarterback signee in LSU’s class of 2022 out of Lafayette (La.) St. Thomas More. He was rated as the nation’s No. 1 dual-threat QB by ESPN. And note who is tweeting this............
