Here's how Alabama keeps students from leaving game early...

Can it be that Alabama has trouble keeping students at the game? Looks like it. Here's a New York Times story:

In recent years, Alabama football coach Nick Saban has complained about student attendance at games. Notably, he hasn't particularly liked that students either leave early or don't show up for non-conference cupcake games against teams like The Citadel and New Mexico State.

Well, Alabama now has a plan to keep students inside Bryant-Denny Stadium for all four quarters, and … it's just a bit creepy.

According to a report from The New York Times, Alabama had its students install a version of the app FanMaker, which tracks their locations while inside the stadium. If they leave the game early, the app knows and won't award them loyalty points needed for perks like College Football Playoff tickets.

I propose we man all the exits with fire hoses. Anyone caught leaving early gets it.

I assume there’s a common courtesy type of stat curve for medical emergencies or the handicap or elderly? Didn’t see that in the article, but I may have over looked it....

Edit - I’m thinking ahead to the fan base as a whole. It’s about the students.

Or they could just not schedule cupcake games. How can he complain when they are offering an inferior quality product to customers? If people went to a restaurant and they used inferior ingredients on certain days, should the owners be shocked to see less people go to eat on those days? If you were a radio station and played inferior music on certain days, would you not see people listen less to the station on those days? Diminished value means you will have diminished demand.

Exactly. So many of these games shouldn’t be played in the first place, it’s amazing that many people show up at all, much less stay for 4 quarters.
