Hayden Springer taking on Torrey, fighting for daughter Sage

Lots of attention this week on Horned Frog U.S. Open qualifier Hayden Springer, whose infant daughter Sage has Trisomy 18. In the golf thread, @gohornedfrogs first posted the story from The Firepit Collective about how the Springers went to the delivery room with expectation that their daughter would probably not come home with them. Like those with Down Syndrome, Trisomy 18 kids have an extra chromosome--but you don't often hear about them because they rarely survive past 24 hours.

Little Sage has beaten the odds and at 3 months, qualified to receive the heart surgery needed to continue living. The Springers have continued to pursue Hayden's PGA Tour dreams while spending a ton of time in hospitals. He's made 10K this year grinding on mini tours, but was among fewer than 20 players who made it through both local and sectional qualifying to earn a spot at Torrey Pines. USOpen.com posted a video story today on the Springers.

There's a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for the Springers' medical costs. Encourage all Horned Frog fans to consider contributing. I think it would be great to see their goal substantially exceeded; Ronald McDonald House also provides a ton of practical support for families like the Springers.
