Who Cares?

Maybe you don't follow TCU football and recruiting much. It is a big deal.

Commentator - Mack, why do your players seem to struggle at the next level with accusations of laziness and entiltement syndrome?

Macky - did you see those players dominate u la mon, texas state, arky state and utep? Clearly they aren't being utilized properly. Please don't blame the players!

Macky rips his mic off and storms out and appologizes to all texas fans.

Are you serious? Who could care less, especially a recruit?

Did you read the release?

You don't think if Coach P were doing this instead, it would make a difference??

You don't see how media exposure makes a difference in recruiting for a program?

Wake up!

Mike Mayock and the NFL network were at the pro day. You don't see the link? Seriously?

I think you're making a mountain out of a molehill. Mack gets any recruit he wants. This will make absolutely no difference in recruiting. Texas already has 19 recruits for 2011. Get a grip.

As a matter of fact I do follow TCU Football, so much so that I'm not really too concerned about what a college football coach from a different school, in a different conference, 200 miles away from TCU does one weekend in April. But hey, whatever floats your boat TCUFrogs!

Not really concerned with Texas either. That's not the point. The whole point in the first place was the contrast with TCU recruiting, pro day, and Coach P.

The TCU progam will always be compared to the other schools in the state, most notably the one in Austin. EDIT: It just so happened that a few more NFL scouts (79 reps total, to be exact) were at MB pro day than at the TCU pro day (79 at UT and approx. 50 at TCU---can't remember exactly)---and Mayock and crew were chummy with MB. I will leave out other details.

So as TCU program aspires to consistenly be a top program, it may be important to take notice if instead Coach P and TCU were so enamoured.

So ok, maybe no big deal to some who are just passively attending to the TCU program. That's fine. But this is of interest to those want to consider who and how gets picked to represent their program on a global scale for draft day of one of the most successful professional sports organizations in the world.

Maybe not mountain, but not a molehill either.....the world is flat (read it).

If no one cares about this, then so be it.

That's fine.

Keep on thinking that TCU and Texas are independent of each other. Even when recruits consider both and some of the same NFL reps visit both places for pro day. I know this first hand.

Dude, you just disproved your own argument. 79 more press at Mack's press day? That was before the NFL draft, right? So Mack is already far more popular than GP. Everyone knows that. Mack bing on ESPN is a drop in the ocean. And nobody watches rounds 4-7 anyway.

If anything, Mack on ESPN is testament to his already huge program. Being on ESPN won't contribute anything more to the program.

So Mack Brown being on TV is going to affect NFL scouts opinions on TCU players? Lets be real here, NFL scouts evaluate talent and are not worried about whose coach is on NFL Network. If a scout can be swayed to pick a Texas player over a TCU player because Mack Brown was on TV, then that is not a very good scout.

No. Maybe you misread.

I stated 79 NFL reps at pro day UT. Less NFL reps at pro day TCU.

NFL reps are NOT press.

NFL network is not ESPN.

That is nothing close to what I said.

Reminds me of a few years ago when Coach K at Duke was in some commercial, Enterprise maybe, I forget which product, but other college basketball coaches, especially the other high profile ones, screamed bloody murder to the NCAA about Coach K getting his face in front of everyone on national TV. They complained that he was getting an unfair recruiting advantage.
