GoFrogs: TCU takes down Rice, 4-2
HOUSTON – The TCU women's tennis team defeated the Rice Owls, 4-2 on Saturday afternoon at the George R. Brown Tennis Center in Houston.
The Horned Frogs with the win improved to 2-1 in 2025 as they took the doubles point, before winning on courts two, four and five to clinch the match.

"Winning on the road is always tough and Coach Schmidt always has a great team. They beat a good Arizona team yesterday 4-1 so we knew we needed to come out fast," Head Coach Lee Walker said.
"I'm really proud of the team and how we came out fast in doubles. We were ready to compete from the first point on every court and I think ultimately our success today was credit to the quick start. Raquel and Yuki have really grown a lot this year and their play showed that. Tomi has been an emotional leader for our team the whole year, and we are pumped for her to get her first team clinch as a Frog. We've got to improve our serving and overall playing with a lead to prepare for top 25 UCSB next weekend"
THE RUNDOWN
The match began with doubles, where TCU won on courts one and two to secure the doubles point. Jade Otway and Isabel Pascual earned their first win of the season with a 6-2 victory over Darya Schwartzman and Fernanda Martinez. On court two, Raquel Caballero and Tomi Main won their first completed match of the season as a pair.
Continuing their winning form, the Frogs got off to a quick start when Yu-Chin Tsai dominated court five with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Playing in her first career match on court two, Raquel Caballero won in straight sets to extend TCU's lead to 3-0. Following Rice's wins on courts one and six, the score tightened to 3-2. It was Tomi Main who came up clutch for the Frogs, defeating Rice's Francesca Maguina in a three-set thriller (6-2, 3-6, 6-2). This marked Main's first clinch as a Frog.
