Weik Named MWC Co-Player of the Week

Honor is the first of his career

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU senior first baseman Joe Weik has been named Mountain West Co-Player of the Week for his efforts at No. 16 Oklahoma State. The honor is the first of his career and the seventh of the season for the Horned Frogs. Weik batted .417 (5-for-12) while helping TCU hand No. 16 Oklahoma State its first three-game series loss at home this season.

The Grapevine, Texas, native had at least one hit in all three contests, finishing with four RBI, three runs scored, two homers, one double, one walk and one stolen base for the series.

Weik's best performance of the weekend came in the Horned Frogs' 10-3 victory on Saturday when he tallied his first multi-home run game of the season, blasting two shots over the fence as part of a 3-for-4, three-RBI, three-runs scored performance. In Sunday's series-clinching victory, he hit a double and drove in one run to aid the Frogs' 8-7, 10-inning triumph.

For the series, Weik posted on-base and slugging percentages of .462 and 1.000, respectively. Defensively, he recorded 32 putouts without an error at first base.

Kyle Winkler has been honored by the conference on three occasions.
