Final Stats

NORMAN, Okla. - The TCU volleyball team had its two-game winning streak snapped by Oklahoma Wednesday night as the Sooners took a 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-18) win in the McCasland Field House.

The Horned Frogs (15-12, 3-9 Big 12) and the Sooners (19-7, 7-5 Big 12) battled the entire match, but Oklahoma proved to have the final push in each set as they swept TCU in the match and in the season series.

TCU got off to a strong start in the first set and a kill from Macy Capen capped a 5-2 run by the Frogs. Oklahoma came back to tie the match back up at 6-6 with a service ace from Julia Doyle and then took a 10-7 lead with a kill and solo block from Micaela Spann. TCU slowly chipped away at the lead and used a kill from Mattie Burleson to take a 15-14 lead into the media timeout. The Sooners responded with a 4-0 run of their own with a kill and two straight service aces from Sallie McLaurin for an 18-15 Oklahoma lead.

Multiple kills from the Frogs brought the match back within one at 20-19, as an error from Oklahoma and then a kill from Stephanie Holland brought the match even at 21-21. The teams battled back and forth until a hitting error from Oklahoma, along with a kill from Burleson put TCU at set point at 24-23. After a Sooner timeout, a kill from Madison Ward sparked a 3-0 run that gave Oklahoma 26-24 set one victory.

The teams continued to trade points into the start of the second set until three straight kills from Keila Rodriguez put Oklahoma ahead 6-4. TCU would take the lead back off a hitting error from Kierra Holst, but a kill from Ward set up a 5-0 run with Holst serving as the Frogs fell behind 14-10. TCU did not back down and used a string of blocks from Natalie Gower to tie the set back up at 20-20. Oklahoma proved to have the final offensive power needed to pull out the set win, as Ward and Holst combined for four kills for a 25-22 win for the Sooners.

Oklahoma took that momentum into the third set as they went on a 7-1 run to start the set. TCU could not overcome the slow start, as the Sooners would win the final set 25-18 and the match 3-0.

Holland led the team for the fourth match in a row with 12 kills and only notching two errors for a .333 hitting clip. Shane Peters finished with 14 digs on the night, while Ashley Smith recorded 10 digs.

TCU will finish off its two-game road stretch by heading to Morgantown, W.Va., to take on the Mountaineers on Saturday, Nov. 16, with first serve set for Noon.
