GoFrogs: Van Lith, Prince Named to Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 Watch List

FORT WORTH – Hailey Van Lith and Sedona Prince are among the frontrunners for national player of the year honors as the 2024-25 season reaches its midpoint.

Van Lith and Prince were named to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 Watch List on Tuesday.

Player selections were determined by a poll of national college basketball experts based on performances during the season thus far.

They are two of four players in program history to receive Wooden Award consideration alongside All-Americans Sandora Irvin (2004-05) and Helena Sverssdottir (2010-11).

Tuesday's honor marks the second time each player has been tabbed to the Midseason Top 25 Watch List. Prince was chosen during her first season as a Horned Frog in 2023-24. Van Lith garnered the accolade in 2022-23 as a junior at Louisville. She was also one of 50 players featured on the Wooden Award Preseason Watch List in November.

Van Lith enters the 11th-ranked Horned Frogs' impending matchup at Kansas as the only player in the nation averaging 17 points, six assists and four rebounds per game. She ranks fifth among all D1 players in total assists (97). Van Lith, along with Notre Dame guards and fellow Wooden Award candidates Hannah Hidalgo and Olivia Miles, is one of just three players who have tallied at least 15 points and five assists in multiple games vs. ranked teams.

From Wenatchee, Wash., Van Lith has led TCU in scoring in 10 games over the team's 15-1 start to the season. Van Lith has finished with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.5 or better on eight occasions.

Prince has again proven herself one of the most dominant centers in American. The 6-7 graduate student is averaging 17.3 points, 9.1 rebounds and 3.6 blocks per game and tops the national charts in blocks. Her production has increased as conference play takes center stage, as Prince is averaging 18.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game in Big 12 affairs.

The Liberty Hill, Texas native tallied 20 points, 20 rebounds and eight blocks in TCU's victory over No. 3 Notre Dame – the highest ranked win in program history – on Nov. 29 in the Cayman Islands Classic. In doing so, Prince became the first player in NCAA history to record 20 points, 20 rebounds and eight blocks in a game vs. a ranked team and first to hang 20 boards and eight blocks against an AP Top Five foe. She is also now one of just four D1 players since 1999-00 to post a 20-20 game opposite a ranked team.

Both Van Lith and Prince were tabbed Ann Meyers Drysdale National Players of the Week on Dec. 3 following the Horned Frogs' wins in the Caribbean over the Fighting Irish and South Florida.

Prince also garnered AP National Player of the Week honors following her 31-point, 16-rebound clinic in TCU's 76-73 triumph over then-No. 13 NC State on Nov. 17. She further padded her awards mantel with a pair of Big 12 Player of the Week accolades on Nov. 18 and Dec. 2.

TCU (15-1, 3-0) faces the Jayhawks at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Allen Fieldhouse.
