ABOUT THE GAME
- After an open date, TCU continues its three-game homestand when it hosts Texas Tech Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
- The Horned Frogs will be playing their sixth consecutive game in Texas to open the season. In addition to Thursday being its third home game, TCU had contests in Dallas, Arlington and Austin.
- In the 18-season tenure of head coach Gary Patterson, TCU is 44-7 in home night games.
- The Horned Frogs have won 13 of their last 16 regular-season games after an open date.
- Patterson is 4-4 as a head coach versus Texas Tech, including a 3-3 mark since TCU began Big 12 play in 2012.
- TCU's last Thursday home game was in 2015, when the fifth-ranked Horned Frogs posted a 40-10 victory over West Virginia.

PROTECTING THE CARTER
- TCU has an eight-game home winning streak.
- The Horned Frogs are 84-19 in 18 seasons under head coach Gary Patterson at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
- TCU went 6-0 in Amon G. Carter Stadium last season for its third perfect campaign at home in the last four seasons.

SADDLE TROPHY
- A longtime tradition was renewed last season when TCU and Texas Tech battled for the Saddle Trophy. The Horned Frogs and Red Raiders used to compete annually in the West Texas Championship for the Saddle Trophy, before it went away in the early 1970s.
- Thanks to M.L. Leddy's Boots & Saddlery of Fort Worth, the Saddle Trophy returned and headed to Fort Worth after TCU's 27-3 victory in Lubbock.
- The Saddle Trophy sits on a stand and includes the logos for TCU and Texas Tech. Scores for 60 years of the rivalry are represented on the Saddle Trophy Stand.

SERIES HISTORY
- Texas Tech holds a 31-26-3 edge over TCU in the all-time series that began with a 28-16 Horned Frogs' win in Fort Worth in 1926.
- TCU is 19-13 versus the Red Raiders in Fort Worth and 7-18-3 in Lubbock.
- Last year's 27-3 TCU win at Texas Tech saw Shawn Robinson became the only true freshman to start at quarterback in the 18 seasons Gary Patterson has been head coach.

FAMILIAR FACES
- Three members of TCU's staff have spent time at Texas Tech.
- TCU co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Sonny Cumbie came to the Horned Frogs after four seasons as an assistant coach at Texas Tech (2010-13).
- Cumbie was the Red Raiders' starting quarterback as a senior in 2004.
- TCU defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Chad Glasgow was Texas Tech's defensive coordinator in 2011.
- TCU offensive line coach Chris Thomsen served in the same capacity at Texas Tech in 2012.
- Texas Tech defensive backs coach Clay Jennings was TCU's cornerbacks coach from 2008-13.

DID YOU KNOW?
- TCU co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Sonny Cumbie has been on both sides of scoring history in the TCU-Texas Tech series.
- He helped lead the Horned Frogs to single-game TCU and Big 12 scoring records with the 82-27 victory over the Red Raiders in 2014.
- The most points ever allowed by TCU under Gary Patterson was in 2004, when Cumbie was the starting quarterback for Texas Tech in its 70-35 win.

TCU NOTABLES
- TCU is one of just five programs nationally to finish in the top 10 of the final polls at least three times in the last four seasons. The others are Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Oklahoma.
- Over the last five seasons, the Horned Frogs' 43-15 overall record and 27-11 conference mark both rank second in the Big 12.
- Gary Patterson's 18 seasons as TCU's head coach are more than the combined tenures of the 11 other FBS head coaches in the state of Texas.
- Under Patterson, TCU has posted seven top-10 finishes and 11 in the top 25. The Horned Frogs have won at least 11 games in 10 of the last 15 seasons.
- Ten of TCU's 12 regular-season games are in Texas. The Horned Frogs will not leave the state until their first flight of the season Oct. 26 for a game at Kansas. TCU will stay in the same Fort Worth hotel for nine of its 12 games.
- TCU tops the Big 12 and is 12th nationally in total defense, allowing just 303.6 yards per game. The Horned Frogs have held all five opponents below their season scoring and total offense averages.
- Twenty-one of Jalen Reagor's team-best 29 receptions have been for a first down or touchdown.
