GoFrogs: TCU Wraps Up Day One at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas – TCU track and field had a quiet start to the 92nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Thursday. Only a handful of Horned Frogs competed, with most of the team's events scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

DAY ONE HIGHLIGHTS
Improving from his season debut at the TCU Invitational, Fellan McGuigan threw 62.00m (203-5) in the hammer throw and placed 12th. At the home meet, McGuigan threw 60.61m (198-10).

In the men's 400 hurdles, freshman Blake Hennesay ran 53.76 for a 26th place finish out of 81 competitors and was third among freshmen. On the women's side, Lexi Aitken finished 36th out of 83 athletes.

Evelyn Mandel wrapped up the day for TCU in women's 1500m and finished ninth.

DAY TWO PREVIEW:
Friday will feature TCU in several events. The morning session will kick-off with TCU's men's and women's 4x100 relays, followed by the 110 hurdles and 100m. A trio of Horned Frog jumpers will also compete tomorrow. Two-time NCAA bronze medalist Chengetayi Mapaya will compete in the men's triple jump, while Patrick Sylla and Chyna Ries will compete in "B" sections of the men's and women's long jump. Mapaya finished third at last year's Texas Relays.

In the evening session, TCU will compete in the men's invitational sprint medley relay and the women's distance medley relay. The relays are scheduled for 5:15 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. respectively.

The meet will be streamed on WatchESPN and air on the Longhorn Network tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. – 12.30 p.m. and 5-7 p.m.
