GoFrogs: TCU to Face Ole Miss in Big 12/SEC Challenge
FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's basketball team will play Nov. 29 at Ole Miss in this year's Big 12/SEC Challenge.
"The Big 12/SEC Challenge is a great platform for two of the best women's basketball conferences to compete and measure where they are at," TCU head women's basketball coach Raegan Pebley said. "We are so excited to continue our participation in it.
"Ole Miss has a lot of unknowns about them as far as roster and system. But, with Coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin as its new head coach, it will be a team that plays extremely hard, disciplined and will be competitive."
The Horned Frogs and Rebels will be meeting for just the fourth time in their history. The last contest came in the 2007 NCAA Tournament, as Ole Miss took an 88-74 decision in Hartford, Conn. TCU's only other trip to Oxford, Miss., was in the 1994-95 season, on the back end of a home-and-home series with the Rebels coming to TCU the previous year in the initial meeting.
The Horned Frogs posted an 88-67 home victory over Alabama in last year's Big 12/SEC Challenge. Overall, TCU is 1-1 in the event.
TCU returns all five starters from last year's squad that posted 23 wins, its most since 2007-08, in advancing to the WNIT Semifinals. The Horned Frogs earned their first top-25 ranking since 2010, while the nine Big 12 regular-season victories equaled their most in program history. TCU advanced to the Big 12 Championship semifinal round for the first time.
