Box Score | Final Stats | Notes

LUBBOCK, Texas -- TCU women's basketball played excellent defense and grabbed its second straight win with a 72-60 win over Texas Tech at United Supermarkets Arena on Wednesday night.

TCU (18-9, 9-7) has tied its program record for Big 12 wins in a season with two regular-season games still to play. The Frogs did so by holding Texas Tech (7-20, 1-15) to just 17 first-half points, including a scoreless stretch for the final 7:19 of the second quarter.

Amy Okonkwo led TCU with 19 points, including 8-of-10 from the free throw line. No other Frogs scored in double figures, but five had seven or more points as the Frogs swept their season series against the Lady Raiders.

Defining Moments
TCU led by just four points, 21-17, with 7:19 remaining in the second quarter, but that is when the game completely changed. TCU held Texas Tech scoreless for the remainder of the second quarter, scoring 17 points along the way itself for a 38-17, halftime lead.

During the decisive second quarter, TCU forced the Lady Raiders into 10 of their 22 turnovers and held them to 2-of-9 shooting.

Texas Tech then went scoreless for the first 2:31 of the third quarter, extending the scoreless streak to nearly 10 minutes. The Frogs held the Lady Raiders to 3-of-13 shooting in the third, but Texas Tech made 11-of-14 free throws to keep the TCU lead at 23, 57-34, with 10 minutes remaining.

The Lady Raiders made 9-of-14 shots in the fourth quarter and closed the game on a 14-3 to make the final score closer.

Stat of the Game
9:50 -- That is the exact amount of time that TCU held Texas Tech scoreless, spanning the second and third quarters. A Texas Tech 3-pointer with 7:19 remaining the second quarter made the score 21-17 in favor of TCU. The Lady Raiders next scored with 7:29 remaining in the third quarter to make the score 42-19.

Quote of the Game
"Road wins in the Big 12 aren't easy, and I was really worried about this Texas Tech team. This is a very different team than the first time we saw them. They play harder and more focused and have been able to climb out of some deficits, so we knew that we had to prepare really hard. They create matchup problems and I think their post players are very difficult to matchup with." - Raegan Pebley
